Georgetown is one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Seattle. Historically it is quite possibly the older neighborhood in all of Seattle, with it’s first settlements having been founded in 1851. However what stands out the most about the neighborhood is it’s long history with transportation. As early as 1877 Georgetown dramatically changed with the introduction of railways to it’s land. Georgetown fast found itself with lines to various important destinations and even a transcontinental line. This affinity for transportation never quite ended and as such Georgetown remained one of the main transportation hubs for all of Seattle, something that still defines it to this day.
Modern day Georgetown is a far more bustling neighborhood than ever before, and the amount of residences and businesses has only increased with time. However at it’s core once you look at it you’ll realize that to this day it still is surrounded by transportation corridors. As such this timeless neighborhood stands out as one of Seattle’s most important locations to this day.

Traditional railways coexist with modern art galleries and fashionable coffee shops, making for a neighborhood that truly pays tribute to both it’s history and potential. Nowadays Georgetown is best known for it’s food and art, as well as it’s creativity in redesigning and reemploying the industrial locations for new businesses without affecting the traditional railway look.
Food in the neighborhood is particularly diverse and across just a few blocks you might come across a Korean restaurant, modern bars that even allow dogs in, and then a tea shop. Georgetown much like it was in the past is still a place where many influences meet, and once you visit it amongst the old railroads you might just find a little bit of all that Seattle itself has to offer.
