The Pioneer Square Neighborhood of Seattle

Founded in 1852 at the height of the Gold Rush, Pioneer Square is Seattle’s oldest and “original” neighborhood. Located in the heart of Seattle, Pioneer Square is a rich cultural center with people from all demographics. It remains popular for its ample assortment of locally owned businesses, restaurants, and its convenient location for transit to other parts of the city.

Old Fashioned with a Modern Twist

Despite having a unique, vintage charm, Pioneer Square is anything but outdated. In fact, it boasts the most forms of public transport compared to the rest of the city. The night life is regularly vibrant and home to new experiences. Still, the historical appeal of the neighborhood is not something to sleep on. The residents of Pioneer Square have taken careful consideration into the neighborhood’s historical roots, in which Native Americans were forcibly removed from the land to make way for colonial interests.
